What is a Chiropodist? |
A Chiropodist is a primary care medical professional practicing podiatric medicine. A Chiropodist specializes in a branch of medical science that involves in the assessment and management of foot and lower limb conditions.
In order to be a Chiropodist, one must undergo extensive training of up to seven years of post- secondary education. Both Chiropodists and Podiatrists are regulated by the College of Chiropodists of Ontario (COCOO). Chiropodists and Podiatrists are the only healthcare providers whose scope of practice includes the prescription and dispensing of custom-made foot orthotics. |

Jacky Fu completed his undergraduate studies at Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Science degree. After managing his family’s physiotherapy and rehabilitation clinic for a few years, he enrolled in a 2 year opticianry program and became a Registered Optician. He pursued further in his healthcare career and enrolled in the Chiropody program at the Michener Institute of Applied Health Sciences and received his Advanced Graduated Diploma in Chiropody. Jacky’s core belief is helping his patients to be mobile and pain free. He has a strong interest in a variety of subjects such as biomechanics, rheumatology and sports medicine. Jacky is also the consulting Chiropodist of Bio Orthotics Lab in Woodbridge Ontario.
In his spare time, Jacky plays Othello competitively. Jacky is a 4-times Canadian Champion and have participated in the World Othello Championship representing Canada since 1998 for many years. He also engages in long distance running and has successfully completed a half marathon and is currently working towards his first marathon. Languages Spoken: English, Cantonese and Mandarin |
Isabella Au, B. Sc. D. Ch. |
Isabella Au completed her Bachelor of Science degree at McGill University. She later completed her post-graduate studies at The Michener Institute with an Advanced Diploma of Health Science in Chiropody. She is passionate about improving and maintaining quality of life through proper footcare. She is well versed in treating skin and nail conditions, as well as biomechanically-related foot ailments. Isabella is also a member of the Ontario Scoiety of Chiropodists. Langages spoken: English, Cantonese |
